Nature and Pet Photography

bio
Growing up in Colorado, there were national forests all around that allowed me the opportunity to explore the natural world. I decided on the University of Montana for my undergraduate degree, and in 2013, I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in parks, tourism, and recreation management from their College of Forestry. Now my goal is to find a career with the United States Forest Service where I can conserve our natural areas while at the same time bring others to experience and enjoy them.
My mother gave me my first camera: an automatic film Samsung. Now I work mainly with a digital Nikon D750, a Canon Powershot sx30, and a film Nikon 6006. While digital cameras are more prevailant, I still like to shoot in film depending on the situation and artistic goal.
Many of the pictures you will see on this site were taken in America's national parks and national forests. These areas are wonderful places not only because they protect nature from human encroachment, but also because they provide places for both children and adults to learn and experience life without all the high-tech gear that the world now revolves around. It is my belief that getting out and active in nature is full of benefits, not limited to promoting a healthy lifestyle, although that is one of the largest!
I have recently started entering some of my photos in the Montana State Fair. 2016 was the first year, and I earned a second place ribbon in domestic animals with the photo "Max cat" and a second place ribbon in macro with the photo "Shooting Star." 2017 earned a first place ribbon in domestic animals with the photo "Mufasa Portrait" and a third place in macro with "Bee on Wild Onion." Each year since I have entered and had fun both participating and placing!
I do offer to sell my pictures (through online specialty photo shops Shutterfly and Snapfish or through the office store Staples) as unframed prints, folded notecards, mugs, calendars, and various other products. Please contact me if you have something specific in mind!
